DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT: 

At approximately 8:05 p.m. on Sunday night, September 22, 2019, the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received 911 calls reporting an accident with injuries, involving a vehicle and a motorcycle near the intersection of US Highway 61 N and Bankston Drive in Tunica, Mississippi.  

 

After receiving the call, the Sheriff's Office Communications Center dispatched deputies, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Pafford Ambulance Service, and Tunica Volunteer Fire Department to the scene. 

 

Upon arrival, it was discovered that the driver of the motorcycle was seriously injured and was transported by Pafford Ambulance Service to Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven, MS.

 

Tunica County Sheriff's Office received information from Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto that the driver sustained life-threatening injuries from the accident and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Marcus Cox, 35, a black male, of Tunica, Mississippi.  

 

The accident is under investigation by Mississippi Highway Patrol.
