High Speed Chase Leads to Arrest of Two Wanted Individuals

On Saturday, February 1, 2020 at approximately 0954 hours, Tunica County Sheriff Deputies attempted to stop a green Chevy Malibu sedan for a minor driving infraction at Old Highway 61 and Casino Center Drive in Robinsonville, MS.

The motorist continued to speed off avoiding deputies, which led to a high-speed chase. The driver of the Chevy Malibu continued north on U.S. Highway 61 where DeSoto County deputies could be seen setting up a roadblock on U.S. Highway 61 near Highway 3. The driver of the Chevy Malibu continued onto I-69 East into DeSoto County.

Tunica County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by DeSoto County Sheriff Deputies and Hernando Police Department. Before the assisting agencies deployed their stop sticks, the green Chevrolet Malibu wrecked out near I-69 and I-55. Two black males fled from the vehicle and were captured immediately near a store on Highway 51 in Hernando, MS.

The subjects were identified as: Willie Lee Austin of 4600 Lapaloma Line Olive Branch, MS and Michael Kincaid Shipp of 4745 Chatelet Drive Olive Branch, MS. Deputies discovered after identifying the subjects that both are wanted for murder that occurred earlier that morning (February 1, 2020) in the city of Olive Branch, MS located in DeSoto County.

Willie Lee Austin's bond is set at $950,000 for murder ($900,000) and conspiracy to commit a crime - felony ($50,000). Michael Kincaid Shipp's bond is set at $1 million for murder, ($900,000) attempt to commit offense / murder, ($50,000) and conspiracy to commit a crime - felony ($50,000). All bonds were set by a municipal judge in Olive Branch, MS.
