Beatline Road Shooting Hospitalizes Two Juveniles

DATE OF INCIDENT:    08-02-2020 

TIME OF INCIDENT:    3:46 P.M. (1546 Hours) 

LOCATION:                     Beatline Road - Tunica, MS 38676 

 

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT: 

On Sunday, August 2, 2020 at approximately 1546 hours, the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call stating shots had been fired on Beatline Road. First responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies discovered one individual was located with a gunshot wound. The individual was treated on the scene by Pafford and Tunica County First Responders and transported by Wings to the hospital. This individual has been identified as a 17-year-old, black male juvenile. 

 

The Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a second 911 call at 1548 hours stating a second individual had been shot on Beatline Road. Deputies and first responders were dispatched to this location. Upon arrival, one individual was located with a gunshot wound. The individual was treated on scene by Pafford and Tunica County First Responders and transported by Wings to the hospital. This individual has been identified as a 13-year-old, black male juvenile. 

 

While on scene, deputies were informed by one of the victims and witnesses of a description of a white utility pick-up truck used as the suspected vehicle. 

 

One suspect has been identified as Jalon Carter, of Tunica, and is in custody at the Tunica County Detention Center. Carter is being charged with two counts of drive by shooting. 

 

This incident remains under investigation by the Tunica County Sheriff's Office. The Tunica County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking information on other subjects involved, related to this incident.
