PRESS RELEASE      

DATE OF INCIDENT: 08-26-2020 

TIME OF INCIDENT: 9:49 P.M. (2149 Hours) 

LOCATION: Old Highway 61 N - Between Gay St. & Anderson St. 

 

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT: 

On Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at approximately 9:49 p.m. the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call stating shots had been fired in the area near Old Highway 61 N, between Gay Street and Anderson Street, and that one subject had been shot. 

 

Deputies and first responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, one individual was located inside a vehicle unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead on scene by Tunica County Deputy Coroner. The victim has been identified as Demarco Peaches, 39, of Tunica, Mississippi.  

 

Witnesses gave Tunica County Sheriff's Office a description of a vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was located by deputies at Tunica Courts Apartments.  

 

One suspect has been identified. The Tunica County Sheriff's Office obtained warrants for Calvin Hurd III, 22, of Tunica, Mississippi for drive by shooting and murder. Hurd is now in custody of the Tunica County Sheriff's Office and is awaiting an initial appearance before a judge.
