Apparent Suicide

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at approximately 1326 hours, the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received information of a suspicious vehicle near Highway 4 and Limerick Rd in Tunica, MS.
 
The Tunica County Sheriff's Office Communications Center dispatched officers to the scene. Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle near the grain bins at 101 McLean Rd in Tunica, MS. Officers observed one individual in the vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound.
 
Pafford Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene. After no sign of life was confirmed, Pafford requested a medical examiner. The individual was pronounced dead on scene by County Coroner, Glen Grant.
 
The individual's information was entered into NCIC and the individual, identified as Jamey Petty, 35-year-old black male of Olive Branch, MS. Petty had been reported missing by Southaven Police Department Monday, March 23, 2020 around 11:30 p.m. Upon receiving this information, Tunica County Sheriff's Office contacted the Southaven Police Department and DeSoto County Sheriff's Office, who dispatched officers to the scene.
 
This incident is believed to be an apparent suicide; however, it is under investigation by the Tunica County Sheriff's Office.
