2022 TRIAD Christmas Program

12/19/2022

program from luncheon
Tunica County Sheriff's Office hosted its annual TRIAD Christmas luncheon at the G. W. Henderson Rec. Center yesterday, December 14, 2022. TRIAD stands for "The Right Information And Direction," and is a program funded through one of the grants the Sheriff's Office is fortunate enough to receive through the Mississippi Leadership Council on Aging, through the Division of Public Safety Planning. The program focuses on filling a vital need for ensuring safety to the Tunica County senior population.

The seniors were served a delicious, hot meal thanks to the hard work and preparation of Tunica County Sheriff Dept. Kitchen Staff, special thanks to Mrs. Lavern Shannon for all the work and preparation. Attendees enjoyed devotions, prayers, praises, and music from Pastor Evelyn Hubbard, Pastor Henry Hargrow, Pastor Hylon Oliver, Pastor McKinley Daley & Company of the St. Luke M.B. Church, Chaplain Robert Lenair, Mrs. Sharon Donner, and Sheriff K.C. Hamp. Thank you to all of our employees at TCSO for helping serve lunch, we could not have done it with out your help!

Attendees got the chance to enter their name into a drawing for door prizes. Pastor Evelyn Hubbard led the program yesterday. She kept guests entertained and engaged with her beautiful voice, singing and reminding the seniors of the blessings they have received and would continue to receive.

Sheriff K. C. Hamp welcomed all of the guests and wished them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! The Sheriff also expressed his love and cares for the seniors, and reminded them to be extra safe this holiday season. He conveyed his mission to continue seeing and serving each and every one of the TRIAD seniors in the days and years to come as he reflected on the TRIAD program in recent years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it had been 1,036 days since our TRIAD program has been able to gather together for fellowship. The event was phrased as the COMEBACK and it was a beautiful time together.

Major Portia Moore shared safety tips with our seniors reminding them the dangers lurking among us this time of the year. Pastor Henry Hargrow blessed the food and shared a lovely devotion. Pastor Hylon Oliver shared the encouragement from Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11. God's thoughts about us are exclusively positive. All of the thoughts that God has toward us are about giving us peace, hope, and a future. It was a great message to share with our seniors after the long 1,036 days we spent apart - knowing we were never apart from the Lord or his thoughts. Mrs. Sharon Donner followed along with the message of God keeping us as she sang "You were right here by me to stay. It was you. He'll never walk out on you. No never... no never, no never... God will never walk out on you!"

Pastor Hargrow prayed over our candlelight vigil powerpoint as we paid respect to the 44 TRIAD members that have gone before us since our last program in February 2020.

"Life is but a stopping place, A pause in what's to be
A resting place, along the road to sweet eternity.
We all Have different journeys, different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things, but never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place far greater than we know.
For some, the journey is quicker, for some the journey is slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward
and find an everlasting peace together,
With the Lord!"

Pastor McKinley Daley & members of the St. Luke church band blessed guests with a number of songs and praises. The seniors in attendance were seen dancing, clapping, swaying, and enjoying the music from the time they arrived, until the very end of the program. The Tunica County Sheriff's Office is so appreciative of them coming out to our TRIAD events to play music and bless our seniors.
