Today, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, 45-year-old Tunika Cooper of Horn Lake, MS, was arrested in Southaven, MS on a warrant relating to Furnishing Contraband to a prisoner (MS Statute 47-5-193), for a prisoner of the Tunica County Detention Center, which constitutes a felony crime. This charge carries a mandatory 7 year sentence with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

 

The warrant was executed by the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office and the Tunica County Sheriff's Office Drug Investigators. The drug contraband was intercepted on Monday, December 18, 2023 on the birthday of the alleged partner of Cooper, Quinterrance Vardaman. Vardaman is an inmate incarcerated at the Tunica County Detention Center. More charges may be filed at the conclusion of this investigation.
