Winter Weather Update

Another strong wind event will impact the Mid-South on Friday, likely producing winds at least as strong as was witnessed on Tuesday.
Much colder air will arrive Sunday and will persist through at least midweek. Accumulating snow appears likely over much of the Mid-South Sunday afternoon through late Monday evening.
 
WHAT TO EXPECT...
 
Friday January 12th:
-Winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting to 50 mph
-Areas affected: All of the Mid South
 
 
Sunday January 14th:
-Significantly colder air will arrive in the early part of the day, behind an Arctic cold front
-Snow will begin north of I-40 during the afternoon, and spread southeast into north Mississippi Sunday night
-Sub-zero wind chills north of I-40 Sunday night, single digit wind chills forecast to the Mid South.
 
 
Monday January 15th:
-Periods of snow continue, ending by evening
-Specific snow amount forecasting is uncertain 5 to 6 days out. But there is potential for impactful snow amounts, particularly north of Interstate 40. Due to the very cold temperatures, the snow will be dry and powdery by late Sunday night and during the day Monday.
-All of the Mid-South is forecast to experience subzero wind chills Monday night.
