Attempted Kidnapping

PRESS RELEASE
On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at approximately 6:18 p.m. the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding an attempted kidnapping within the County from a residence in the Dundee area. Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the area.
Upon arrival, sheriff deputies made contact with an individual who advised that their minor child was approached by a white, older model possible Chevrolet or Ford passenger van occupied by two individuals - described as a white male driver and a black male passenger. The occupants were reportedly wearing masks.
A vehicle description given describes the van to have had tinted windows and black stripe(s) down the sides. Sheriff deputies were advised that the occupants of the van attempted to lure the minor child into the vehicle by stating that they had candy and puppies inside the van.
The minor child immediately alerted adults at the location of this incident. The vehicle was last seen traveling north on Old Hwy 61 N around 4:30 p.m.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call the Tunica County Sheriff's Office at 662-363-1411. If you come into contact with the vehicle, please immediately dial 911 and notify the authorities.
