Shooting Death Ruled Accidental

UPDATE:
The investigation in the shooting death of Jermaine Jones has been ruled an accidental shooting by the Tunica County Sheriff's Office.
The firearm recovered from the vehicle belonged to Jermaine Jones and it was not on safety.
 
PRESS RELEASE
On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., the Tunica County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding an individual being shot at 2661 Old Highway 61 in
Tunica, MS. Sheriff deputies and first responders were dispatched to the scene.
 
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with one male subject lying on the ground next to a vehicle suffering from a single gun shot wound. Pafford made scene but the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Tunica County Coroner, Glen Grant.
The subject has been identified as Jermaine Jones, 22, of Tunica, MS. This incident is being investigated as a homicide, pending further investigation.
 
Tunica County Coroner has scheduled an autopsy, and the deceased has been transported to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson, MS.
